I know it’s been a while since I have added some new work to a blog that never gets read but here goes. All these things are screenprinted on wood and hand cut using a scroll saw.

I will have all these pieces available for purchase online soon and if you are near Portland, I will have them at the Crafty Wonderland Holiday Sale in December.

It’s been a while. I had to do some moving around to the hosting of this blarg and while I am here I might as well say hello. So much has happened since I last posted here. The world is on fire, figuratively and literally! Lowering our baseline of what “fine” and “ok” means when someone asks how you are doing. It made me think of the “too blessed to be stressed” bumper stickers, so I whipped up the image above as a twist on that crap. Am I right?

It’s been a long time since a post. Do people still use blogs or have we switched to social media only. Speaking of social media, most of my activity on the web is now pretty much on Instagram. I have cut back my friends, followers, followings on everything else. If you are interested you can find me on Instagram using the usual @kenntwofour or click here—> KENNTWOFOUR INSTAGRAM to head over.

Anyway…quick update. Jeanette and I went to Yosemite a few months back. That is where the above photo was taken. I have lots of photos from that that I might post but you can see them on my Flickr here —> FUN AT YOSEMITE .

New work

Here are a few of the newer things that I have been working on.

I have kept the content of my blog to just my art and art process but I am going to start adding some other things to mix it up. Im not much of a writer but just play along as I ramble. Let’s start with a hike. Jeanette and I have been hikers for a while but since we moved to Oregon it has become a regular part of our life. Hiking for me is a form of exercise but more importantly a form of therapy.

In this post I will show the process of making my Watching/Waiting piece. The final piece is 6″ X 11″ X 2.5″ made out of 1/2″ and 1/4″ baltic birch. The tools I used are a circular saw for the straight cuts for the frame, a scroll saw for the curved shapes and a Dremel tool and sander for the distressing and shaping.

Since making the move to beautiful Portland Oregon I have been focusing on a couple of things. First, I had a kidney stone, which was great fun and I am really glad I am finished with that project…for now. Second, I have been doing more wood pieces. Focusing on making simple shapes to convey the detail. This one came out alright I think. Right now this direction is a bit on the cartoon side for me but I am excited to see where this takes me. Im trying to carve the pieces to give them a bit more of a dimensional look. The big eagle was a take on the eagle in the WPA logo.

This has been a crazy year for the team. Jeanette and I had some great sadness and some great joy come our way in 2013. In the end it was a good year filled with big changes and new directions. We are starting to get back to normal after our move and things are starting to feel good. Portland is beautiful and we have been spending as much time as we can hiking even when it’s cold and rainy. This photo was taken at the half way point of our move from Atlanta to Portland. We picked the roller coaster instead of the merry go round and I’m glad we did. Go where you want to go, live where you want to live. Life is short, choose your own adventure!
